Guarana

Guarana seeds are one of more than 60 plants worldwide that naturally contain caffeine. Importantly, ABA member companies voluntarily quantitatively label total caffeine – from all sources, including guarana – contained in their energy drinks.

Taurine

Taurine is an amino acid found in common food items such as seafood and poultry. Health authorities and regulatory agencies have determined taurine does not interact negatively with, or enhance the effects of, caffeine in the body at the levels contained in energy drinks.

Caffeine

Regardless of whether caffeine is added to a product or naturally occurring and whether it is consumed hot or cold, the effects are identical. Click here to learn more about caffeine.

Ginseng

Ginseng is a perennial herb. Many cultures have been adding ginseng to tea for hundreds of years.

B Vitamins

B vitamins are found naturally in the foods we eat such as seafood, seeds and meat. They are essential nutrients that play a wide range of beneficial roles, such as helping the body convert carbohydrates to energy.

Sweeteners

Energy drinks can be sweetened with sugar, glucose, high fructose corn syrup and low- and no-calorie sweeteners, giving consumers a range of calorie options from which to choose.
